What is your hometown like? My hometown of Vicksburg, MS, is full of historical importance relating to the Civil War, the MS River, Coca Cola, architectural design and of course the Miss MS pageant!
What were you like when you were a child? As a child, I was dramatic. I loved to sing, dance, love on my pets, and play jokes on my family.
Who is the most influential person in your life? My mother is the most influential person in my life. She is my biggest supporter and my most honest critic.
What is the one thing about you that people you meet may not immediately realize? When people first meet me they usually think I’m sincere and earnest. But after a while, they learn I can also be silly, fun, and humorous.
Describe one defining moment in your own life, other than winning your local title: I was once bullied. Before this experience, the opinions of others mattered drastically to me but through it I learned the importance of being authentic to myself and my values.
What is one important thing you have learned from being in the Miss America Program? I’ve learned that beauty pageants are not all about physical appearance. There is a lot of hard work and it takes a team of people helping you achieve your goals.
If you are crowned Miss Mississippi, what do you want to accomplish during your Year of Service? I would like to spend my time helping young girls become aware of the unrealistic beauty ideals that our society places upon them.
What is your secret wish or dream? I would like to perform on Broadway!
I’m motivated by: food, music, dance and love.
Is there a personal connection that made you pick your personal platform? I believe we all have a personal connection to my platform. We live in a society where traditional and social media are constantly setting unrealistic beauty ideals.
What do you think has been the most significant event in your lifetime? I believe the invention of the smart-phone has been the most significant event in my lifetime. It literally changed the way members of our society spend their time and the information available to them.
The one thing I can’t live without: I can’t live without my family which includes my dogs.
My best friend would describe me as: loyal, humorous, kind, and loud!
Something interesting about my family: My family has lived on the same property in Warren County Mississippi for six generations.
Funniest or most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to me: I once fell face first into the floor while showing a dog.
One thing I’d like to try that is out of character for me: Although my parents took me camping and hiking, I never learned to enjoy it. As an adult, I would like to try unplugging from electronics and spending more time in nature.
Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and tell us their names: Yes, I have three dogs- A Boxer named Joker, a Boston Terrier named Charlie and a Basset Hound named Molly.
