A Fun Family Fact? I am the only daughter in 3 generations of my immediate family on my dad’s side.
Hello! My name is Marrianna Timmons. I am 13 years old and an eighth grader at Tupelo Middle School. I live in Tupelo, Mississippi with my mom, dad, and younger brother. We also have two dogs, Obi and Pixie. I go to church at The Orchard where I have helped teach Sunday school for the last two years.
I have played the piano for 5 years and the cello for 3 years. I also play soccer for Tupelo Middle School. In my spare time, I enjoy jogging, helping my grandmother clean, and going out on the lake on my grandfather’s cabin cruiser boat. Recently, I have found a passion for cooking.
My platform is called Helping Hooves: Fighting Teenage Depression Through Equine Therapy. I am very passionate and excited about my Helping Hooves because of the effect it has on young woman. Helping Hooves is psychological therapy and horseback riding combined that enables young women to develop coping skills to combat their depression and improve self-confidence.
As a young teenage woman, I can relate firsthand to how tough life can be. Depression, especially in teenagers, is at an all-time high. This statistic can be caused by many factors, but the main one is excessive social media use. Social media creates superhuman expectations that can rarely be met. Helping Hooves aids women to overcome their fears and anxieties.
My grandmother is a licensed psychologist and practicing equine therapist. She helped start an equine therapy program that I have volunteered at numerous times. I have seen positive results in the participants and, also, myself.
