What makes you special and unique? I am an Optimist…The glass is half full!!
What is the one thing about you that people you meet may not immediately realize? Initially they’d think I was shy but I’m quite outspoken. I believe in speaking up for those who can’t quite find their voice. I’m definitely not shy about standing against the mistreatment of others
Best advice you have ever received? That I am my own competition. No one can beat me being me.
What can’t you live without? God and my family
What is your biggest guilty pleasure? I love bread of all varieties, sweet and savory.
What is your favorite movie genre and why? My favorite movie genre is comedy for sure because I love to laugh, so the funnier the better
Where do you see yourself in ten years? In 10 years I plan to be a college graduate and an up and coming well known vocal performance artist.
Most valuable lesson learned? To always be grateful for everything you have, no matter how big or small.
Most valued role model (other than your mother) and why? My Grandfather, who is also my pastor, is my most valued role model because he has been through so many obstacles to get to the success that he is today!
What motivates you? I’m motivated by seeing others succeed and accomplishing great things in life.
Greatest non-academic accomplishment other than winning your local title? Winning Youth Female Vocalist of the Year at the Golden Triangle Music Awards.
Best compliment you have ever received? I have always been told that I have a good heart and a sweet spirit.
Secret wish or dream? That everything bad in the World would be nonexistent and that love and happiness would surround us always. I also dream of becoming a Grammy winning recording artist.
What is the funniest or most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to you? I was invited to sing at a church when I was 10 years old and during the song I forgot the lyrics and instead of continuing to sing, I said, “sorry”, and then went back to singing. Not my best moment at all!
What is one thing you’d like to try that is out of character for you? Honestly I think I’d be willing to try almost anything…as long as it’s legal.

Describe yourself in one word. Compassionate
A Fun Family Fact? For my mom’s entire pregnancy with me, she was told that she was having a boy. But 4 baby showers and 2 ultrasounds later, out pops ME, a bouncing baby GIRL! I’ve been surprising them ever since!
I’m Madison Grace McCarter, my mom said that my middle name is “Grace” because it was by God’s grace that I am here. I am a lovable 15 year old who is passionate about singing, life and people. My favorite color is blue and I love bread! My family is a huge part of who I am and they support me and are my biggest fans. My #1 fan is my little brother, Caleb, we have an unbreakable bond and he always keeps me going. I am sort of a perfectionist so I am hard on myself, especially when it comes to my grades in school. I am a straight “A” student and have been since I was in the 1st grade.
I love singing and have been singing since I was 3 years old, my hope is that one day I will be singing for all the World to hear. I am very loyal especially to my friends. While I am a bit shy, I am quick to speak up and out when it comes to mistreatment of others. The thing that I dislike the most is seeing someone get bullied and hearing someone being talked about. My motto is treat people how you want to be treated.
I am a Christian and I love God and my church and being a youth leader in my church. When I am not participating in church activities, I am playing volleyball, basketball, and softball for the Victory Christian Academy Eagles, where I am also a 9th grader. I enjoy bringing out the best in others and seeing them succeed. Finally I believe that love conquers all and that you shouldn’t end your day without a good laugh!
My platform, “Paying It Forward: It Starts In Your Community”, was birthed from my desire to give back to my local elementary school, West Lowndes Elementary in Columbus, MS. WLE is the smallest elementary school in Lowndes County MS School District. Although small in size, there is so much school pride and determination to excel within the walls of WLE. Because of the impact that was made on me while I attended WLE, I wanted to create ways that would help the students there feel better about themselves and thrive; however, I knew I couldn’t do it alone so this is where my community comes in. In the last year I have been working with the principal of WLE, Mr. Robert Sanders, to identify the current needs of the students attending. We have organized several service projects to be held throughout the academic school year. I have already hosted a coat drive and a toy drive, where 20 students were provided for. I have also collected school supplies to donate to students in need. I also encouraged former WLE students to join me in “Paying it Forward”, by donating their time and efforts to not only assist with the service projects but to serve as mentors and positive role models. In addition to helping my former school, I have been performing random acts of kindness and have asked others to do the same. My main objective through the “Paying it Forward” initiative is to first serve my community, city and state but most of all to help others stop and think outside of themselves and see how they can help others. One of my mottos is “We’re Better Together”.
