Social Impact Initiative Description:     The purpose of my social initiative is not only to help prevent house fires through education but also to help improve the odds of survival if a house fire were to occur.

What is your major?        Liberal Studies

List scholastic honors:     Received an invitation to the Keystone program in Honors College, National Honors Society, Inducted into Lambda Sigma Honor Society

What is your scholastic ambition?     To obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing followed by a Doctorate in Nursing with a specialization in Nurse Anesthesia

Greatest non-academic accomplishment:      Receiving numerous talent awards from participating in music festivals and competitions

What has been your greatest adventure?  Please provide an answer outside of the Miss America program.         I rode one of the most dangerous waterslides in the country

What trip shaped your life? Please provide an answer distinct from your social impact initiative.    

Because of the diversity, job, and education opportunities, my family trip to Houston inspired me to want to someday get my graduate degree.

Use three (3) words to describe your greatest assets.    My three greatest assets include my thirst for knowledge, my flexible mindset and my persistence

Are you a person of intelligence or of common sense?     I am a mixture of both

Who is the most influential person in your life other than your mother?     My high school biology teacher because she had former graduates who were very successful in their fields to come back and speak to us about their journey to success.

What are your 2 favorite hobbies and what led you to them? Participation in the Miss Mississippi program is not considered a hobby for this question.      Reading – the accelerated reading program in school led to my passion for reading. Music- I started at age five because of parents but continued because it became a way for me to express my emotions, perform, and create new challenges

Who is your most interesting relative and why?     My cousin because he used to be afraid of heights when growing up. Now he’s a lieutenant in the marines, pursuing a career as a pilot.

What is the best advice you have received and from whom? Please answer this question with information from outside of the Miss America program.      My father. To always roll with the punches

What is your favorite quote?      “Helping one person might not change the world, but it could change the world for that one person”

Who is your most influential mentor and why? Please answer this question with an individual from outside of the Miss America program.     I met my mentor at a local dress shop and she introduced me to the Miss America Organization. After my involvement, she helped with school, jobs, and everyday life advice. I am forever grateful and consider her my second mother.

Other than being Miss Mississippi, what is your dream job?    Nurse Anesthetist

What is the one thing about you that people you meet may not immediately realize?    I am a fighter. No matter what obstacle I encounter in life, I will always find a way around it.

What success have you learned most from?  Please answer this question with an experience outside of the Miss America program.      Success isn’t measured by what you’ve accomplished but by the obstacles you’ve overcome.

What failure have you learned most from? Please answer this question with an experience outside of the Miss America program.    Having to redirect my path to becoming a nurse

What is one important thing you have learned from being in the Miss America Program?      I have a significant impact on others

If you are crowned Miss Mississippi, what do you want to accomplish during your Year of Service?     As Miss Mississippi, I would like to accomplish bringing awareness to my social initiative of fire safety through educating others about the importance of fire safety, installing smoke detectors around communities, and ultimately making the entire state of Mississippi safe.

Is there a personal connection that made you pick your personal social impact project?      My father is a retired firefighter and served as a firefighter for over 30 years. He told stories about families that lost their lives because they did not have a proper smoke detectors and a fire escape plan.

When is your sense of humor most evident?      When I am around my family and friends

What historical figure best represents who you are striving to be?     Maya Angelou, she advocated for love and peace

What gadget can you not live without?        Laptop

What is your favorite sport and sport team?       Football. The New Orleans Saints
