What is your scholastic ambition? To obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing followed by a Doctorate in Nursing with a specialization in Nurse Anesthesia
List scholastic honors: Received an invitation to the Keystone program in Honors College, accepted into the University of Southern Mississippi’s Nursing school, National Honors Society, Inducted into Lambda Sigma Honor’s Society
Greatest non-academic accomplishment: Top 10 at MMOT and Talent Winner
What is your favorite style of music? I enjoy several different genres of music, from Classical music to Pop music. As a musician, I have learned to appreciate all aspects of music.
What is your favorite movie genre and why? Watching a horror movie helps me become more appreciative that I am in a far better situation than those in the movie
What is your favorite gadget? A stethoscope is a simple gadget that is very complex. It enables you to hear a person’s heartbeat and breathing which is truly amazing.
What is your favorite blog? The Huffington Post provides me with the latest news stories
What is your favorite place to visit? The Museum of Mississippi History/ Civil Rights Museum located right in Jackson, Mississippi
What is your favorite food? Anything that swims! I am a seafood nut.
If you were on a deserted island, what book would you want with you? A journal is the book I would want to have with me to document all the crazy things that happen to me and to tell story of survival.

What is your hometown like? A small country town that lies between two major cities called Bolton is truly a hidden gem. Many people tend to overlook it and don’t realize the agricultural value because it produces so much cotton.
What were you like when you were a child? As a child, I was extremely curious and wanted to learn everything. I asked questions daily and read books every chance that I got. Learning and gaining knowledge shaped me into the person I am today.
Who is the most influential person in your life? My father! He teaches me to always be honest, kind, and respectful to others. He also taught me how to deal with difficult situations that I may come across in life.
What is the one thing about you that people you meet may not immediately realize? My love for music and affinity for the piano! Being able to share my passion for music with others is truly a gift!
Describe one defining moment in your own life, other than winning your local title:
Getting accepted into the University of Southern Mississippi’s Nursing program has been one of the most defining moments of my life. It showed that my hard work and dedication had finally paid off. It’s only the beginning of this roller coaster but I’m ready to strap up and enjoy the ride.
What is one important thing you have learned from being in the Miss America Program?
The Miss America program has taught me how to be confident in who I am. This organization has helped me improve my communication skills and for that, I am thankful.
If you are crowned Miss Mississippi, what do you want to accomplish during your Year of Service?
As Miss Mississippi, I would love to see the stigmatism associated with mental illness disappear totally. I will continue to encourage people that are battling mental illness to reach out and get help.
What is your secret wish or dream? To win a lottery and become a millionaire at a young age.
I’m motivated by: The joy I get from helping others motivate me to have an positive affect to anyone I encounter in life.
Is there a personal connection that made you pick your personal platform?
A family member that is battling a mental illness daily shaped my passion for my platform. Seeing how they struggled with acceptance from others and didn’t realized that the illness was controlling their lives and effected not only them but their love ones, made me want to help others accept themselves and seek the help they needed.
What do you think has been the most significant event in your lifetime?
My father’s second heart attack had a significant impact on my life. Seeing how the doctors and nurses cared for him after his surgery made me want to be able to have the same compassion as a future nurse.
The one thing I can’t live without: I cannot live without Google. It knows everything!
My best friend would describe me as: My best friend would describe me as kind, compassionate, selfless and self spoken. I’m always there when she needs me.
Something interesting about my family: My parents, siblings, and I, all have the initials ‘LM’.
Funniest or most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to me: While performing a piano piece at a state wide competition on a huge stage with a bright spotlight, I blanked out and forgot how to play piano in the middle of my piece!!
One thing I’d like to try that is out of character for me: Scuba Diving, I appreciate all aspects of marine life and would love to get the chance to explore underwater marine life in the Key West.
Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and tell us their names: Unfortunately after losing a very well-loved family dog, I cannot bring myself to having another one just yet.
