What is your hometown like? My hometown is pretty small but continuing to grow every day. Every time I come home there is a new restaurant or house they are building. It is in between Mississippi State University and The University of Alabama so I would say that half of the town is Alabama fans and the other half are State fans which is pretty interesting. However, I love being so close to Mississippi State and my family and I have always been State fans #hailstate.

What were you like when you were a child? Apparently I was very mean. Everyone was so shocked when I grew up to be girly and sweet because I was so mean when I was little. I also ate everything and in most pictures of me when I was small I have food in my hand. I am the middle daughter of three and have always been so different from my two sisters. They are both athletic and played sports and I preferred dance. They would try to convince me that I was adopted because I was so different.

Who is the most influential person in your life? I would say that God is definitely influential in my life but besides that my middle school dance teacher Mrs. Bonnie Partridge has a big influence on my life. She is seventy but moves like she is twenty. She teaches Zumba four times a week, run marathons, rides her bike and is so active. She taught dance for over twenty years and influenced so many people’s lives including mine. She continues to teach me so much and believes in me more than I do most of the time. I hope to be like her when I grow up.

What is the one thing about you that people you meet may not immediately realize? One thing that people may not immediately realize about me is that I am very sensitive person. I do not like to upset or disappoint people but as I get older I am starting to grow a thicker skin and realize that I cannot please everyone.

Describe one defining moment in your own life, other than winning your local title: One defining moment in my life would be attending college. I have grown and learned so much about myself and the world through the college experience. I cannot wait to learn even more as I continue my education with my masters.

What is one important thing you have learned from being in the Miss America Program? One important thing I have learned would be that one person can have such a big influence in people’s lives. As a title holder, people and young girls look up to me and I love being able to spread such an important message.

If you are crowned Miss Mississippi, what do you want to accomplish during your Year of Service? I would like to accomplish reaching as many children as I can and making them and this state as healthy as possible. I would like to encourage people to start living healthier lives if they are not already to reduce the growing obesity rate in this state.  I would also like to be a good role model for young girls. There are so many negative images and things for girls to follow online and I would love to be a positive influence.

What is your secret wish or dream? To be a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader

I’m motivated by:    My compassion for others. I want to see  others happy and being the best version of themselves as I like to strive to be.

Is there a personal connection that made you pick your personal platform? Yes, my platform is very personal to me because I love children and I also love to dance. This platform allows me to combine the two things that I love by encouraging children to be active and get moving in anyway and letting them know that dancing is a fun way to do so. Being a dancer has given me so much confidence and has a lot to do with the healthy lifestyle that I live and I want the same for others.

What do you think has been the most significant event in your lifetime? The most significant event in my life would have to be becoming an aunt. I currently have two nieces and two nephews and they make me want to be a better person. My nieces look up to me so much and it makes me want to me the best person I can be to set a great example for them.

The one thing I can’t live without: Advice from my mother. I would be so lost without it.

My best friend would describe me as:  Very outspoken. I am not shy and I love meeting new people and my best friends are not really like this but I like to push them outside of their comfort zones and encourage them to be bold.

Something interesting about my family:  Something interesting about my family is that we are a very athletic family. My parents both ran track in college and my sisters both play softball in college. My younger sister was actually chosen to be a member of the Junior National Softball team in 2015 and continues to do very well as a member of the University of Louisiana Lafayette softball team.

Funniest or most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to me:  The most embarrassing thing that has happened to me would be during my senior dance show, I went to do a kick and my foot slid from under me and I fell. I was so embarrassed that I laughed at myself the rest of the routine and could barely finish the dance.

One thing I’d like to try that is out of character for me:  I would like to go skydive but I am afraid of heights.

Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and tell us their names:  I have one dog, she is a Chihuahua, and her name is Zoei.
