What is your scholastic ambition?       My scholastic ambition is to graduate with my MD from University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, aspiring to be an obstetrician/ gynecologist.

List scholastic honors: National Beta Club, Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Honorary, Girls State Nominee; Dean’s List at Pearl River Community College                                                                                                       

Greatest non-academic accomplishment:  Looking over my life, I would say the accomplishment would be overcoming my insecurities and building confidence when I never thought I could. This now has made my future effectively brighter and has opened up various opportunities for myself.

What is your favorite style of music?  Pop music                                                    

What is your favorite movie genre and why?            This answer is definitely Action because I love all of the plot twists and different outcomes that an Action movie can have.

What is your favorite gadget?    This is so cliché, but this would have to be my cellphone. This gadget serves as my miniature lifeline.

What is your favorite blog?                   My favorite blog is WordPress. Some of my friends have created blogs on this website because of its diverse context.                                                                                    

What is your favorite place to visit?  My favorite place to visit by far is New Orleans, Louisiana. From jazz music, delicious beignets, the New Orleans Saints Football Team and Pelicans Basketball Team to haunted houses and swamps, this is a place where fun and adventure are the perfect words use to describe this cultural center of the South.

What is your favorite food?                    My favorite menu item would have to be pasta. Mac and cheese, fettuccine, spaghetti, if it is a noodle on a plate, I’m in!                                                        

If you were on a deserted island, what book would you want with you?          I would bring the book The Vegetarian by Han Kang.

Thing to do on a weekend:         I am an outdoor sports enthusiast so kayaking makes a perfect weekend for me.

Way to spend a day off:  On a day off, I can be found deer hunting and trout fishing.

What is your hometown like?  Host of the Mississippi Pecan Festival and having our very own blueberry industry, Richton, Mississippi, is the epitome of unique. Rewarded with the Blue Star Memorial for recognizing veterans, I am proud of the two red lights we call Richton.

What were you like when you were a child? As a child, I was shy and soft-spoken. Growing up as a dancer, I became accustomed to being in front of people and grew to love it.

Who is the most influential person in your life?       The most influential person in my life would be my brother. Being fourteen years older than me and enlisted in the Army at the age of 17, he taught me how determination and bravery make for a successful life.

What is the one thing about you that people you meet may not immediately realize?

Describe one defining moment in your own life, other than winning your local title: Watching a two year old struggle with open heart surgery convinced me that I was needed in the medical profession.

What is one important thing you have learned from being in the Miss America Program?

I have learned the importance of technology in communication. Miss America is social media driven and its local and state representatives are relevant because of that connection.

If you are crowned Miss Mississippi, what do you want to accomplish during your Year of Service?

I would push for national legislation and more support groups and become the national spokesperson for National Alliance on Mental Illness.

What is your secret wish or dream?  My secret wish is to meet Kevin Durant, the small forward for the Golden State Warriors basketball team. Seeing him be so humble receiving multiple Most Valuable Players awards in the NBA after having the story of a struggling single mother striving for the success of Kevin, this made me know that he is a very sincere player and knows where he comes from and what he wants for others.                                                                                            

I’m motivated by:  Baptists and by the Browns.                                                                                                                                  

Is there a personal connection that made you pick your personal platform?

Yes, my personal anxiety occurred when I was ten years old, after the death of my grandfather. My strategy to raise awareness and teach others who experience anxiety and feel detached. My goal is present ways to refine their everyday lives, coping with anxiety and made me reach out.

What do you think has been the most significant event in your lifetime? I was not treated fairly in the early childhood in school. I was often bullied for things such as my skin tone, voice, and how I perceive myself. After having the love and support of my parents, I knew that being different was only being who I wanted to be, which is 100% me.                                                                               

The one thing I can’t live without:         Nevertheless, it would have to be having things in order. Without my planner, I would be an unorganized person.

My best friend would describe me as:  bubbly, energetic, friendly, and compassionate. In this past year, my best friend has pushed me to see the world in different perspectives while still having a point of view of my own.

Something interesting about my family:         My grandfather taught himself how to ride a horse bareback and was the first to do that in his community while teaching others to ride. Also, my dad came from a family of twelve consisting of eight brothers and three sisters. My brother and I have a 14 year age gap.                                                                             

Funniest or most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to me:  I was at a dance competition and my overalls fell almost completely to the floor. I am so thankful for my dance teacher making us wear t-shirts and black jazz shorts under the overalls.

One thing I’d like to try that is out of character for me:  I would like to try to be more observant. I am the one who is always doing the speaking and making things happen. Being observant would make me see things in a new light.

Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and tell us their names:            I do not, but my next dog would be a Chocolate Labrador or a French Bulldog.
