Way to spend a day off: I love to spend my days off outside relaxing as long as the sun is shining.
What is your hometown like? My hometown, Taylorsville, MS, is so small it has no red lights, but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in amazing citizens.
What were you like when you were a child? I was a very active child. I enjoyed riding horses, gymnastics, and playing softball.
Who is the most influential person in your life? My mother. She is a very hardworking woman who has taught me everything from how to read to how to build a fence or ride a horse.
What is the one thing about you that people you meet may not immediately realize? People may not realize that I am obsessed with the ocean. Fun Fact: I grew up wanting to be a Marine Biologist.
Describe one defining moment in your own life, other than winning your local title: A defining moment in my life is when I first visited the Dominican Republic and realized that true happiness does not come from material items.
What is one important thing you have learned from being in the Miss America Program? I have learned perseverance. Early morning workouts, studying for interview, and making appearances are wonderful, but some days are harder than others. However, through perseverance, I have been able to see the purpose for all of these activities and push through.
If you are crowned Miss Mississippi, what do you want to accomplish during your Year of Service? As Miss Mississippi, I would want to be an incredible role model for the children of Mississippi while promoting my platform, H.E.A.L, Healthy Eating for a Longer Life. I would also like to make people more aware of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and spread the word on what we can all do to keep the doors open.
What is your secret wish or dream: To be able to speak fluent Spanish.
I’m motivated by: I am motivated by my competitive nature and my need to succeed.
Is there a personal connection that made you pick your personal platform? As someone who has seen many of my family members and members of my community affected by diabetes, heart disease, obesity, and many other chronic diseases, all caused by poor and uninformed dietary choices, I created my platform, H.E.A.L., to inform as many people as possible about the positive effects healthy foods have on a person’s body.
What do you think has been the most significant event in your lifetime? The election of the President of the United States of America during the 2016 election was very significant because this person will choose at least one but possibly more of the Supreme Court justices. This will be a decision that will affect generations for years to come.
The one thing I can’t live without: I hope to eventually go without it, but my COFFEE.
My best friend would describe me as: Very outgoing and compassionate
Something interesting about my family: I am an only child. Also, my parents both graduated from the same high school as me.
Funniest or most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to me: My softball team was playing our rival school, and as I rounded first base to run to second, I tripped and literally rolled all the way to the outfield. We still won.
One thing I’d like to try that is out of character for me: I don’t know how much I would enjoy it, but I would love to try SCUBA diving with sharks.
Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and tell us their names: I have two pets. A rat terrier named Skeeter and a sassy gray ex racehorse named Hank.
