Where do you see yourself in ten years? I see myself as a music or theatre teacher.

Most valuable lesson learned? Whenever I get nervous in social situations, I just remember that everyone else is also worried about how they are being perceived b by others. The most important thing is to be yourself because life is too short to be a

Most valued role model (other than your mother) and why?   I admire Emma Watson because even though she acquired fame and fortune through the Harry Potter series, she still values the importance of education and received a degree from Brown University.

What motivates you?   My parents’ support motivates me to be best version of myself every day.

Describe yourself in one word. Kind

A Fun Family Fact? My great-great grandparents were immigrants from Italy.

A fun fact I like to tell other people is that I was born in Houston, Texas, the same city and state that Beyoncé is from.  Just like Beyoncé, I have a strong passion for singing. In addition to singing, I have been in multiple school musicals at Oxford High School. These include Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, 1776, and the Wizard of Oz. Some of my favorite   hobbies are reading and doing yoga. I love to read especially the Harry Potter and the Hunger Games series. I really enjoy doing yoga because it always feels good to relieve any tension that may be built up after a stressful day. I am the oldest sibling of my family, with a brother who is thirteen and a sister who is nine. My sister will be my princess for the pageant, and I am so thankful to have her as a sister and princess       .

Other things I really enjoy doing are traveling, makeup and fashion. I have traveled to include New York City, Jamaica, the Cayman Islands, and Cozumel, Mexico. My favorite place I have been would probably have to be New York City because I was able to see shows on Broadway. My favorite was Phantom of the Opera, and I am so excited to perform a song from this music in the talent part of the competition. I really got into makeup by watching tutorials on YouTube. If it weren’t for the internet, I would have no idea how to do makeup! Although I do like to dress cute, most of the time, there are times when I feel like wearing a sweatshirt and black leggings.

I actually enjoy school. I love participating in my school choir and acting classes.   All in all, I am so excited to be a part of the Miss Mississippi’s Outstanding Teen program and can’t wait until the time finally comes to shine!

My passion for performing arts started from the early age of 5. I was in music class when the teacher asked if anyone wanted to sing Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer as a solo. Shy as I could be, I raised my hand and started singing. I got such a rush from singing in front of others and that’s when I knew that performing was what I was put on this earth to do.

According to recent studies, 93% of the public believes that the performing arts is essential to a well-rounded education. Not only do performing arts help with social relationships, but it also improves proficiency in core subjects. Unfortunately, performing arts programs are the first to get cut from schools due to strict budgets. With my platform, Lights, Love, Action, I will spread the awareness for performing arts, whether in schools or as an extracurricular. Performing arts has really helped me to become more confident in myself and realize that singing is my passion. I always felt like I didn’t belong because I wasn’t good at sports. Performing arts provided me with a form of self-expression and has helped me embrace the person that I am.  Lights, Love, Action spreads the awareness for performing arts and encourages kids everywhere to pursue their passions.
