Please write short essay (2 or 3 paragraphs) explaining your passion for your platform and your stance on the subject. Be sure to name your platform and give a brief explanation of its purpose as well.
Currently, there are over 500,000 children in foster care in America today, and only 12,000 children are being placed in foster homes each day. I am very passionate about my platform “Fostering Our Future”, because I believe every child deserves a home. People need to be more aware about foster care. My father growing up had a foster sibling, my sister is currently a foster parent. To watch her love and nurture these children like her own is amazing. I personally am too young to be a foster parent, but my job is to plant the seed in my generation about foster care, so when they are old enough hopefully they will become foster parents.
When a child is taken from their home, a social worker arrives with a black plastic bag for their belongings. It is estimated that the average foster child moves seven times before the age of 18, and with each move everything they own is placed in a trash bag once more. All children deserves love, respect and dignity, but not all children get those things.
