What is your hometown like? Small but so friendly, I knew someone everywhere I went and loved that so much. Also, all of my family lived in the same town.
What were you like when you were a child? I was very shy, but very creative.I was always dressing up and planning games with my sibling.
Who is the most influential person in your life? Jesus Christ
What is the one thing about you that people you meet may not immediately realize? I struggle with anxiety and depression. Most people think that I have it all together but on the inside sometimes just getting out of the bed is hard.
Describe one defining moment in your own life, other than winning your local title: I will never forget when the head coach of Delta State Swim and Diving called me and offered me a spot on the swim team. I cried, I was so happy!!
What is one important thing you have learned from being in the Miss America Program? That the way you carry yourself matters. I have gained a lot more self-respect through this experience and I noticed other people feed off of that.
If you are crowned Miss Mississippi, what do you want to accomplish during your Year of Service? I would like to show the world that you don’t have to fit society’s standards to be beautiful. You can be strong and powerful and still be feminine.
What is your secret wish or dream? To be a college athlete again or a professional athlete.
I’m motivated by: Wanting to make my family, friends and teachers proud.
Is there a personal connection that made you pick your personal platform? Being in my sorority made me pick my platform. I want to promote Tri Delta and be someone not only my sisters can look up to and use as a role model, but all girls and guys dealing with body image issues.
What do you think has been the most significant event in your lifetime? I was in a car accident that ended my athletic career. Through not being able to compete anymore, I found my passion for coaching and led me to further my education.
The one thing I can’t live without: Going to church and praying.
My best friend would describe me as: Someone you can call at 3 am and I would answer and someone who always puts others before myself.
Something interesting about my family: I am the oldest of 5 kids and all of us were/are home-schooled. My mom is a stay at home mom and made my childhood very fun.
Funniest or most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to me: During my onstage question at the Miss DSU pageant, I tried to take the microphone and wouldn’t let go. Everyone laughed, including myself!!
One thing I’d like to try that is out of character for me: This may sound cliché,but I am a very adventurous person. There is not much out there that I would not try. I want to try as many things as possible while I am here on this earth.
Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and tell us their names: Yes, I have a horse named Lucy and two dogs, Bingly and Meila.
