What is your hometown like? Greenwood is a charming small town full of history and culture. It is small enough to know most people you see in public but large enough to have great character and wonderful restaurants
What were you like when you were a child? I was a very nurturing and motherly child constantly helping my mom with my little sister and playing house with baby dolls. I also loved to play sports such as soccer and softball. Being a part of a team helped develop me into the strong willed, encouraging, and hardworking team player that I am today
Who is the most influential person in your life? My mom has always been a very influential person in my life. She always pushed me to be the very best I could be, even when it was difficult, constantly encouraging me and always being the strong, yet loving character within my family. She has taught me how to be a Godly woman full of integrity, perseverance and love, extending it to the people I come in contact with because we may never know the struggles someone else is facing
What is the one thing about you that people you meet may not immediately realize? Most people would never know that I use to battle weight and be thirty pounds heavier which use to make me a very insecure person. Also, with my active lifestyle people would never know that I deal with a small heart problem and a large number of kidney stones
Describe one defining moment in your own life, other than winning your local title: The accomplishment of finally hitting thirty pounds of weight loss was one of the best moments of my life. It has given me the confidence to be a part of this program and to stand in front of people and tell my story to try and aid them in becoming healthy. It has changed my life tremendously
What is one important thing you have learned from being in the Miss America Program? I have learned to be confident within myself and the woman that I have been shaped into. I have also learned to not give up until I have accomplished the goal in which I set out for. This system does not concentrate solely on beauty and that aspect I admire greatly. Miss America focuses on being a well-rounded woman and I want to encourage young girls that being a fully developed woman is what is most important in life
If you are crowned Miss Mississippi, what do you want to accomplish during your Year of Service? I want to speak to many groups of people emphasizing the importance of overall health and help fight the battle of obesity. Many people do not realize that there are two sides to the ultimate well-being of a person and thus need to be informed on this subject. I also want to encourage young girls to be happy with who they are and not dwell on the images the media and society throws our way. I want them to know that they were made uniquely and to be healthy in the ways they treat their bodies
What is your secret wish or dream? To be a real princess like Miss America
I’m motivated by: I am motivated by my success in weight loss, my new lifestyle change thus far and also my success in this great program
Is there a personal connection that made you pick your personal platform? My platform goes hand and hand with my story of choosing to become healthy. As a child and teenager I was a chunky little girl that often got picked on. One day I made the decision to completely change my lifestyle and become a healthier person both mentally and physically. Since then, I am thirty pounds lighter and have more energy and confidence than I ever have. I want to share my experience so someone else can also have this great fuzzy feeling of unwavering confidence and success
What do you think has been the most significant event in your lifetime? I took a mission trip to Montana and got to see the living quarters and lifestyles of the people and children living within the mountains. It was a total shock seeing how sad the homes and clothing of these children were because we were in the United States and I did not expect them to be in such shape. We take for granted how much we have and the homes we get to live in. Most of these parents were running from the law and so the children were raising themselves. I thoroughly enjoyed loving on these children and telling them how much their Father, God loved them

My best friend would describe me as: intelligent, clever, strong willed, loyal, loving, nurturing, hardworking, and encouraging

Funniest or most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to me: I once fell while walking to a ski lift and broke my hand, walking
One thing I’d like to try that is out of character for me: I would love to go skydiving. I love doing things that give me an adrenaline rush even though I am very hesitant and reserved at first
