What is your favorite style of music? I enjoy anything with a good beat
What is your favorite movie genre and why? The comedy genre definitely has my vote! I love movies that bring out smiles, laughter, & happy tears
What is your favorite gadget? The Ipad mini is my favorite piece of technology because it allows an efficient balance of social, personal, and professional life all in one
What is your favorite blog? I do not internet blog; but in my opinion, the next best thing to blogging is the GroupMe application! I am able to keep up with all of my interest groups and favorite people (classmates, friends, sorority, etc..), while staying up on the latest information
What is your favorite place to visit? I love going to the Mississippi Fair in downtown Jackson, MS. I look forward to all of the games, rides, vendors, special events, and most of all the Italian sausages and candy apples
What is your favorite food? Nothing is more delicious than a baked sweet potato
If you were on a deserted island, what book would you want with you? The Journey of Hope written by Dr. Maxine Harper is an inspirational autobiography that touches the heart of every reader; realizing, despite any circumstance there is nothing you cannot achieve

Thing to do on a weekend: I enjoy going to sporting events or catching a good sale at department stores with Mama

What is your hometown like? Brandon, MS is a great place to grow up! It has two 6A schools; plenty of recreational activities and afterschool programs; state of the art Winner’s Circle Park; the scenic, man-made Ross Barnett Reservoir; a variety of churches that cater to all preferences of faith; developing residential & commercial areas; and an exceptional Dogwood Promenade shopping center
What were you like when you were a child? I am the child who would show up at a soccer game, dashing from one event to the next, with an up-do full of curls, a dolled up face & rhinestone earrings ready to play ball and win! I have always embraced my “tom-boy” and “princess” alter egos; and I still do
Who is the most influential person in your life? The most influential person in my life is my strong, devoted, hardworking, loving, & God-fearing mother. She is the backbone of our family and has served as my epitome of a successful role model
What is the one thing about you that people you meet may not immediately realize? While I have been blessed with the abilities of dancing, cheerleading, and dabbling in many recreational sports; it is a constant struggle to excel in those areas because I have lived & battled the chronic disease of asthma since I was a small child
Describe one defining moment in your own life, other than winning your local title: One defining moment in my life was when I was selected as a collegiate athlete. Many people doubted my abilities to perform at the college level, and they even almost made me feel incompetent in my dream. However, I worked hard and proved to myself and to others that I had what it took to be a successful student athlete and serve as a campus leader
What is one important thing you have learned from being in the Miss America Program? Miss America is a dynamic program that is constantly changing and improving to fully encompass the diverse beauty in young women of America. The Miss America Organization continues to unveil and produce unique, young women who are able to make a connection in who they are and who they want to become, while opening the doors for many of those dreams to come true
If you are crowned Miss Mississippi, what do you want to accomplish during your Year of Service? I have a sincere, soft spot in my heart for the pediatric population; and as Miss Mississippi I will embrace being the ambassador for the Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital, while continuing to be an advocate for Prevent Child Abuse Mississippi and further my efforts on educating others on how they can make an everlasting difference in the lives of our future leaders. I vow to be of service to the great state of Mississippi and do my best to contribute to all needs
What is your secret wish or dream? I secretly wish I were a chef! I have such a hearty and adventurous appetite that it would be absolutely wonderful to prepare whatever my taste buds desired
I’m motivated by: I am motivated by the expectations that my parents instilled in me at such a young age. I have been fortunate to be blessed with a support system that has prepared me with the essential foundation to be successful; and from that external motivation, which has translated into an intrinsic factor, I strive to be the best I can be
Is there a personal connection that made you pick your personal platform? I have a sincere interest in the health and wellbeing of our future leaders. As a healthcare professional in training, I want for all children to have equal opportunities to succeed, while preventing challenging situations they may face
What do you think has been the most significant event in your lifetime? The most significant event in my lifetime was when I graduated college. My late grandmother was a retired teacher who instilled in me at a young age the importance of a good education; and I know she is overjoyed in heaven to see me going on to pursue a professional studies degree
The one thing I can’t live without: I can’t live without my beloved and prized shoe collection. As a sales associate at Designer Shoe Warehouse (DSW) I truly embrace the brand of being a shoe lover
My best friend would describe me as: Outwardly studious and well-rounded; and also a genuine and tenderhearted individual on the inside
Something interesting about my family: I refer to my family as the ultimate sports team! Dad is the coach, mom is the financial planner, brother is the star athlete and I am the cheerleader
Funniest or most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to me: I was locked in the freezer room while working the Dairy Queen drive-thru window at a summer job. Before I became too frigid, the drive-thru line started to crowd, someone came looking for me; and thankfully found me
One thing I’d like to try that is out of character for me: Deep sea diving seems exhilarating and adventurous, but it would be something farfetched and would definitely test my level of courage
Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and tell us their names: I am the proud pet owner of Scottie Burnett. He is the most playful, handsome, well mannered, and intelligent Schnauzer you will ever meet
