Greatest non-academic accomplishment:  Becoming President for the Delta State University Baptist Student Union.

What is your favorite style of music? Showtunes!

What is your favorite movie genre and why?  My favorite movie genre is Documentary. I love getting a glimpse of what life is like for someone else.

What is your favorite gadget?  My favorite gadget is my tablet. I use it for books, social media, and games!

What is your favorite blog? The Paradox of Grace by Kristi Ralston.

What is your favorite place to visit?  New York City. I have loved seeing Major League Baseball games and shopping on Times Square.

What is your favorite food? Cupcakes!

If you were on a deserted island, what book would you want with you?  I would bring my Bible. I get something new from it every time I read it.

Do you twitter?  Not as much as I used to, but yes!

What is your hometown like?  My hometown is incredibly inviting. At every stop that you take, someone will be there to welcome you with a smile.

What were you like when you were a child?  Reserved, but always asking questions about how things worked and why things happened.

Who is the most influential person in your life?        Definitely my dad! He has one of the strongest minds I have ever known, while keeping an even stronger faith through the most difficult of circumstances.

What is the one thing about you that people you meet may not immediately realize? I love to talk, but I truly love to listen.

Describe one defining moment in your own life, other than winning your local title: During my first test in one of my first upper-level psychology classes, I realized for the first time that I truly wanted to understand the human brain better and help others take care of their own mind.

What is one important thing you have learned from being in the Miss America Program? Confidence! I have become more confident and comfortable with conducting myself during interviews and engagements with other people.

If you are crowned Miss Mississippi, what do you want to accomplish during your Year of Service? I would love show young girls that hard work and dreaming big pays off, while also bringing more awareness to the severity of blood cancers.

What is your secret wish or dream?  To cook tortellini with Chef Emeril Lagasse!

I’m motivated by: Challenges are my biggest motivators. They inspire me to work harder than before.

Is there a personal connection that made you pick your personal platform? Over the last few years, I’ve personally known people who were diagnosed with a blood cancer. Once I heard a couple of statistics of the rapid increase in diagnoses, I knew I wanted to bring attention to what we know and what we can do about blood cancers.

What do you think has been the most significant event in your lifetime? Accepting Jesus Christ as my Savior. My faith is the basis of who I am.

The one thing I can’t live without:         Access to a kitchen so I can bake cakes!

My best friend would describe me as:  Quirky, but sophisticated on occasion!

Something interesting about my family:  With four older sisters and three nieces, we are a very “girly” family. The only men in my family are my dad, new nephew, and the men that have married in!

Funniest or most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to me: When I was 14 years old, I competed in a beauty review and won. However, I was frozen on stage and didn’t hear my own name get called! I didn’t realize I had won until girls in front of me turned around to get my attention!

One thing I’d like to try that is out of character for me:  Actually playing a sport!

Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and tell us their names:  Unfortunately, I do not have a pet right now. I am planning to get a Scottish Terrier named Henry!
