What is your favorite style of music? Pop and Country
What is your favorite movie genre and why? I enjoy movies that have a true or factual basis. These movies are interesting because I already have knowledge of the facts before seeing it on the big screen
What is your favorite gadget? “Robo”-GPS controlled sweep/mop gadget. It makes cleaning a breeze
What is your favorite blog? I occasionally follow “Enjoying the Small Things” which is written by the mother of a Down syndrome child and her optimism is truly inspiring
What is your favorite place to visit? Hawaii and if I can’t be there- any beach
What is your favorite food? My mom’s cheesy mashed potatoes. Definitely have not enjoyed these while getting ready for the pageant
If you were on a deserted island, what book would you want with you? My devotional book, Jesus Calling. I think I would need some encouraging words if I were stranded on an island

Thing to do on a weekend: Spend time with my family, shop with my mom and relax
Way to spend a day off: Have lunch at Crescent City Grill in Hattiesburg and check out estate sales

What is your hometown like? Laurel/Jones County is friendly, full of history and quite unique. It is a bustling area of the most wonderful people found anywhere
What were you like when you were a child? I am the youngest and the little sister of 2 brothers who were and are “all boy”, to say the least. I grew up playing beside baseball and football fields. Although I should have been a tomboy, I was always the girlie girl who loved frills, bows, pink, sparkles, dancing, singing and performing at the Laurel Little Theatre
Who is the most influential person in your life? Ms. Polly Coker established Love In Action Ministry years ago in Jones County. Her home is the ministry and is open to those in need of a helping and loving hand, from the recovering addict to the homeless. She ministers to their needs both spiritually, and physically, all the while operating on her faith and without government assistance. Through the years I have volunteered at Love In Action. Besides Ms. Polly, my mom who has always been the most influential person in my life, both as a cheerleader and critic
What is the one thing about you that people you meet may not immediately realize? I was completely bald until I was 3 years old. My mom used to tape bows on my head so everyone would know I was a girl
Describe one defining moment in your own life, other than winning your local title: I lived at home through Junior College. My life completely changed last year when I went to MSU and had 3 roommates. It has been quite defining to learn to live with girls who do not have my habits. I have been forced to not become OCD about the little things
What is one important thing you have learned from being in the Miss America Program? Because of my participation in the Miss America Program, I have gained self-confidence and the ability to believe I am capable of achieving anything. Wearing a crown certainly commands attention that I otherwise would not have received and enables me to be a positive role model for other young women and girls and allows me to promote my platform
If you are crowned Miss Mississippi, what do you want to accomplish during your Year of Service? Each day, an average of 21 people die in the United States while awaiting an organ transplant. As Miss Mississippi, through awareness and education, I would promote the tremendous need in our country, as well as our state, for organ donation. Also, as a part of my focus, I would emphasize the demand for living donors of tissue, corneas and other organs
What is your secret wish or dream? To be a news anchor for Good Morning America
I’m motivated by: A challenge into an area or field I have never ventured into and one that is a bit outside my comfort zone
Is there a personal connection that made you pick your personal platform? Sarah Rowell and her family have been longtime family friends since before I was born. She went on family vacations with us, babysat me as a child, and served as my appointed “older sister” since I lived with all boys. In 2002, at the age of 21, she was diagnosed with a heart condition called Viral Cardiomyopathy that would eventually put her on a heart transplant waiting list. Sarah finally received her new heart on November 29, 2013 thanks to an organ donor who not only saved Sarah’s life, but also 6 others. Sarah is currently planning her wedding for this upcoming summer and is celebrating life every day
What do you think has been the most significant event in your lifetime? The attack of 9-11 upon America and its way of life. On that one day our Country changed forever. From only randomly considering our safety to becoming used to words like “homeland security” and “full body screenings at airports”, this was the defining moment for the United States
The one thing I can’t live without: My family. They are my support system for everything I strive to do
My best friend would describe me as: Sassy and fun! She would also say I am very focused on my education and future goals
Something interesting about my family: The members of my family are independent thinkers with interests varying from hunting to advocating for animal rights. Although we do not agree on all issues, we have mutual respect for one another’s differences
Funniest or most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to me: On the first day of high school, I dressed up really cute and wore red high heels. As I was walking down a hill between classes, I tripped and fell. Although uninjured, I was so very embarrassed. I’ll never forget that day
One thing I’d like to try that is out of character for me: I would love to go skydiving but I am deathly afraid of heights
Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and tell us their names: I have an English bulldog named “Lucy Grace” and a Cocker Spaniel named “Mr. Ben”. Both are spoiled and believe they are royals. We adopted two cats, Tubby and Sebastian who stay outside but know exactly when dinnertime is
