What college did you attend, or are currently attending? I am currently attending Delta State University.
What is your major? I am a nursing major.
What is your scholastic ambition? My scholastic ambition is to obtain a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing and then proceed to obtain a Master of Science Degree in Nursing. I aspire to become a Nurse Practitioner or even a Nurse Anesthetist in the field of pediatric oncology.
List scholastic honors: I graduated with honors from Warren Central High School, I have been on the Delta State University Dean’s List for academic excellence. I was accepted into Delta State University’s Nursing program. I was 1 of 5 people from my nursing class selected to participate in the Dedicated Education Unit.
Greatest non-academic accomplishment: At a young age I began attending the Miss Mississippi Pageant. After watching the young women on stage year after year, I realized that one day I wanted to be on that stage too. Having the pageant held in my hometown of Vicksburg created a huge desire in me to become Miss Vicksburg. This year I competed for the title of Miss Vicksburg 2016 and I won. That is my greatest and most honored accomplishment.
What is your favorite style of music? My love for music is very diverse. Depending on my mood, I enjoy listening to 80’s rock, 90’s country and hip-hop. However, I always start my day by listening to my Pandora Christian station.
What is your favorite movie genre and why? I love romantic comedies. There is nothing better than watching a good love story unfold!
What is your favorite gadget? My favorite gadget would definitely be my electric neck and back massager. Unlike most young adults, after a long day of class or tests I would rather put my phone away and relax with a great massage.
What is your favorite blog? I do not have one particular blog that is my favorite. I actually keep up with many nursing blogs. I love to feel that I can relate and truly understand the way nursing creates such a great impact on numerous from all over the world.
What is your favorite place to visit? My favorite place to visit is the mountains of Colorado because they are so beautiful and peaceful. There is always something to do regardless of the season.
What is your favorite food? I enjoy any type of Southern cooking. Southern food reflects the warmth, hospitality and comfort that can only be found in this area of the country.
If you were on a deserted island, what book would you want with you? If I were on a deserted island I would want to have my daily devotional book, “Solo”. Reading my devotional is the first thing I strive to do every morning.
Do you twitter? While I do not have a twitte4 account, I do participate on other social media sites such as: Snapchat, Facebook, and Instagram.

Television Program: My favorite television program is Untold Stories of the E.R. This show interests me because it follows real life stories that happen in everyday Emergency Room settings. It is very exciting for me to see how the doctors and nurses overcome the difficulties they face under extreme circumstances.
Wardrobe Accessory: My favorite accessory would have to be the pearl earrings that my dad gave me the day I graduated high school. Pearls are my favorite because they have a classic look that never goes out of style.
Thing to do on a weekend: During the summer, I love to spend my weekends at the lake with my friends and family.
Way to spend a day off: I work very hard in school, so when I have a day off I simply enjoy curling up on the couch and reading a good book.
What is your hometown like? Vicksburg played a significant part in our Southern history. There are many things to see, from the Civil War sites at the famous Military Park to the location of the first bottled Coca-Cola.
What were you like when you were a child? As a child I was highly active and enjoyed being outdoors. I developed a caring heart early in life. I have always loved doing things for other people, so at a young age I became involved with church. I would say that is where my desire to give back started. Early on I was intelligent, responsible and mature.
Who is the most influential person in your life? The most influential person in my life is definitely my father. I am truly a daddy’s girl. He is the reason I stopped crying 16 seconds after being born, from falling off my first bike, and even when I decided to give my heart to God. He has taught me everything I need to know about life and what it means to work hard and be thankful. I would not have the drive, motivation, work ethic, or kind heart that I do if it weren’t for him. I am forever grateful that God chose him to be my sweet Daddy!
What is the one thing about you that people you meet may not immediately realize? Upon meeting me for the first time,, one may not realize that I have a huge heart. I am always willing to reach out and help others of they need someone to depend on. I strive to be very generous, not only in material things, but also with my time. Caring for others gives me a sense of fulfillment.
Describe one defining moment in your own life, other than winning your local title: A defining moment in my life was being accepted into Delta State University’s School of Nursing. This program has a 98% pass rate for state board due to the teaching expertise of the faculty.
What is one important thing you have learned from being in the Miss America Program? One important thing that I have learned from my participation with the Miss America Organization is that in life, as a while, you are competing against yourself to be the best that you can be.
If you are crowned Miss Mississippi, what do you want to accomplish during your Year of Service? As Miss Mississippi I would make it my mission to provide for the Children’s Miracle Network, encourage young women to become involved with the Miss America Organization, promote fundraising, and be a positive role model for our state.
What is your secret wish or dream? I can’t tell you…It’s a secret! 🙂 hehe
I’m motivated by: I am motivated by my father. He is my greatest encourager and biggest supporter. Also, God is a major motivator for my life. I try to always trust his plan and live by his example.
Is there a personal connection that made you pick your personal platform? I have a dear friend who suffered from child abuse at a young age and her life was effected drastically. While I have not experienced child abuse personally, seeing the way it has impacted her life influenced me to help in raising awareness for this national concern.
What do you think has been the most significant event in your lifetime? The most significant event in my lifetime has been my parent’s divorce. It has taught me so much about life and has helped shaped me into the woman I am and aspire to be.
The one thing I can’t live without: The one thing I absolutely cannot live without is my planner. This is because I am extremely organized. With the help of my planner I know that I will always be at the right place at the right time.
My best friend would describe me as: I think my best friend would describe me as genuine, ,one who cares wholeheartedly, easy going, a good listener, and most importantly, someone to be goofy with.
Something interesting about my family: My family gets a huge kick out of playing cards. Our favorite game to play is Phase 10. We have shared many laughs and memories at our kitchen table playing it. The competitiveness of my family is what makes those times so great!
Funniest or most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to me: My entire life I have been awful with directions. When I was in junior high my teacher as us to point North. I pointed up toward the ceiling because North on a map always points up. My teacher embarrassed me by making me stand up in my chair to show me that North was not up. Needless to say, I was the only one in class standing in a chair and I was the only one who did not understand direction.
One thing I’d like to try that is out of character for me: One thing I would like to try that is out of character for me would be to go sky diving. It seems like a huge rush, but also very dangerous. I have always been a cautious person, so this would be unusual for me.
Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and tell us their names: I have a black and tan Dachshund named Buddy. I have had him since I was 10 years old He is my heart and soul!The one thing I love most about him is his loyalty to protect and show his love for me and my family.
