What is your hometown like?  Being one of the largest cities in Mississippi, Gulfport is such a unique and diverse place to live.  We have a multitude of activities that attract locals and tourist but we keep the small hometown feel where neighbor still helps neighbor.  Hurricane Katrina has proved we are a resilient community as well.

What were you like when you were a child?  My family says I came out not only talking but singing and performing.  Always worried about being dressed in the latest styles and wearing the cutest shoes, playing in the dirt or mud were never something I enjoyed.  So basically, I have been a diva from birth.

Who is the most influential person in your life?  At this point in life, my small circle of friends is the most influential people in my life.  I try to surround myself with individuals with the same morals, interests and goals as me and who choose to lift me up on a daily basis.

What is the one thing about you that people you meet may not immediately realize?  Usually most people are surprised by my age and maturity because I can look like a kid at times.  Upon getting to know me, many are surprised by accomplishments and goals as well as how much of a hard worker I am.

Describe one defining moment in your own life, other than winning your local title:  I guess you could say that becoming an “adult” has been not just a defining moment but a series of moments that made me aware of how independent I can be.  Successfully completing my first semester of college made me realize just how much I have grown as a person.

What is one important thing you have learned from being in the Miss America Program?  Competing in the Miss America program emulates real life in that it is a continual process of growth, change and improvement to become who we strive to be.

If you are crowned Miss Mississippi, what do you want to accomplish during your Year of Service?  If crowned Miss Mississippi, I would continue the hard work and dedication of being that light, friend, mentor and role model that our previous title holders have been to so many people across our state and the nation.   I would want to continue to work on my passion of helping other people  and encouraging others of all ages that they too can spread hope with just a single act of kindness.

What is your secret wish or dream?  I would love to combine my love of the stage with my favorite Disney princess and play Belle from Beauty and the Beast on Broadway.

I’m motivated by:  I am motivated by my desire to be successfulin every endeavor that I undertake.  Failure is not an option and to succeed I must always work a little harder than expected or needed.

Is there a personal connection that made you pick your personal platform?  In 2010, after my little brother was born and spent time in the NICU, I created my own organization. “Evan’s Hope” where I make and delivered care packages to children and their families in the hospital.  While I still work with “Evan’s Hope”, I have never been so blessed to be able to work with many other worthwhile organizations and events where the focus is helping someone else get through a tough time or situation and expanded my personal platform to include all of the worthwhile causes that are near to my heart.  HOPE:  Helping Other People Endure was created to not only service wonderful programs but to encourage everyone that there are many ways and many worthwhile programs in which they can become involved.

What do you think has been the most significant event in your lifetime?  Although I was only seven at the time, Hurricane Katrina was a huge event that impacted not only my family but my beautiful community.  The Gulf Coast is still recovering in many ways from the devastation this monumental hurricane left behind.  Most recently however, the Presidential election has impacted our entire country and for me was very significant because it was the first time I was old enough to vote.

The one thing I can’t live without:  I am not sure that I could live without music.  Whether I a singing, dancing or just relaxing, music of all genres is a big part of my life.

My best friend would describe me as:  My best friend would describe me as sassy, outgoing, a good listener, always singing, a little sarcastic at times but always loyal and up for anything.

Something interesting about my family:  We were once headed to Phoenix, AZ for a competition and my mom thought it was a wonderful idea to drive the 24 hour trip but make it a vacation and spend almost a week on the road.  The Griswold’s had nothing on us.

Funniest or most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to me:  I was emceeing a children’s event recently and mispronounced a little boy’s name.  He paused and gave me the strangest look before walking over and basically breaking down each syllable of his name on the microphone.  He stayed beside me until I got it right.  He definitely stole the show and had the audience laughing.

One thing I’d like to try that is out of character for me:  I have no real athletic ability at all but I would love to try snow skiing.  The cute outfits would definitely be a plus.

Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and tell us their names:  No pets.
