What is your favorite movie genre and why? I love chick-flick, romantic comedies! I don’t get to watch movies often, but when I do these are always a good choice because they are relaxing and always have a happy ending

What is your favorite place to visit? I love visiting Destin, Florida with my family every summer

What is your hometown like? I grew up on a small farm in the very small town of Mount Olive, Mississippi. Because the town is so small, we were always close friends with our neighbors and many of the others in the community
What were you like when you were a child? I was an extremely nerdy child and have remained that way into adulthood! I have always loved to learn and I still believe that learning should be a lifelong process
Who is the most influential person in your life? My aunt has definitely made a large impact on my life. She has battled cancer for many years now and is a constant reminder to be persistent and to live life to the fullest
What is the one thing about you that people you meet may not immediately realize? Most people do not realize that I am actually not as “girly” as I seem. I enjoy hunting and fishing and grew up participating in 4-H and Future Farmers of America
Describe one defining moment in your own life, other than winning your local title: I found out I was accepted to medical school at exactly 12:01 AM on October 16th, 2014. This was a goal I had worked for my entire life and I woke up my entire household (including both dogs) with my excited screams
What is one important thing you have learned from being in the Miss America Program? I have learned how impressionable young girls are and how much they look up to older girls in shiny crowns. It is so important for any title holder to be a role model to these girls and to take the time to make a positive impact on their lives
If you are crowned Miss Mississippi, what do you want to accomplish during your Year of Service? I would like to establish a Pages of Love donation group for each hospital and major clinic in the state. This would help to positively impact our state’s illiteracy rate and would also provide a distraction for a sick or hurting child
What is your secret wish or dream? I have always wanted to buy a large boat for my family to use after becoming a doctor and taking care of my student loans
I’m motivated by: I always set extremely high goals for myself. This requires me to constantly work and push ahead to accomplish whatever I have set my sights on
Is there a personal connection that made you pick your personal platform? I was often sick as a child and had horrible allergies and asthma. Therefore, I was often in the doctor’s office and reading children’s books was the best way to pass the time. This blossomed into an organization to donate children’s books in 2005 and has since become my platform
What do you think has been the most significant event in your lifetime? I feel that the events of 9/11 have made the most significant impact on my life. The day of 9/11 initiated a war that we still fight daily and also created a fear that was nonexistent before
The one thing I can’t live without: My planner
My best friend would describe me as: A nerdy girl with a strange sense of humor who is always, always on the go
Something interesting about my family: My entire family has blue eyes and O- blood, this includes grandparents as well as aunts and uncles
Funniest or most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to me: I once emceed a pageant and nearly had to walk out onstage without shoes! I had taken them off while speaking at the podium and didn’t realize I would have to take the envelope from the judges. I finally located my shoes and got them on, but by that time the entire audience knew what was going on and everyone got a laugh
One thing I’d like to try that is out of character for me: Skydiving
Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and tell us their names: At my apartment at school I have a Siamese cat named Theodore. At home we have two family dogs, Sadie and Nessie
