What is your hometown like? Greenwood is known as the “Cotton Capital of the World” and locals are very proud of its history. I love that it is small, charming, and historic but still modern and unique
What were you like when you were a child? As a child I was somewhat shy, and quiet, content to play with my siblings or to be alone. I was also very artsy and enjoyed reading, drawing, painting, and making crafts
Who is the most influential person in your life? My dad and I have a very special connection, most likely because my brain works like his and we tend to look at the things the same way. His choices in life have influenced many of my own decisions about my future
What is the one thing about you that people you meet may not immediately realize? My peers are surprised to learn that I was homeschooled all of my life. I outgrew my shyness, and most people now describe me as outgoing and fun, characteristics not typically associated with homeschoolers
Describe one defining moment in your own life, other than winning your local title: When I was 16 years old, my mother allowed me to decide if I wanted to continue taking piano lessons. I chose to continue studying piano, and it was one of the best decisions of my life because music has shaped me in so many wonderful ways
What is one important thing you have learned from being in the Miss America Program? Participating in the Miss America program has taught me to focus on being MY best and to accept that it’s okay not to be perfect. No one is perfect but having faults doesn’t mean you can’t be beautiful or powerful
If you are crowned Miss Mississippi, what do you want to accomplish during your Year of Service? As Miss Mississippi, I would like to raise awareness for my platform and share how music isn’t necessarily just a subject…it can be a powerful teacher. I feel it is important to be the best role model I can be for young women and to grow and learn from the responsibilities that the title presents
What is your secret wish or dream? I have a secret dream to ride in an F-22 Fighter jet, hopefully without losing my lunch
I’m motivated by: excitement. I am fueled by other people’s passions. When they become excited about something, it helps me to get excited as well
Is there a personal connection that made you pick your personal platform? I have a passion for music. It has impacted my life in so many positive ways, and I am blessed when I can share that passion with others, instilling hope in them
What do you think has been the most significant event in your lifetime? As a young adult, I made the personal decision to accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior and become a Christian
The one thing I can’t live without: passion
My best friend would describe me as: crazy, funny, smart, and quite clever
Something interesting about my family: We LOVE to smile and laugh, so it has resulted in several self-taught comedians in our family
Funniest or most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to me: During the Evening Gown Competition at my Local Pageant, I walked out on the runway and suddenly lost my balance. I almost tripped but thankfully I didn’t panic and I was able to quickly recover
One thing I’d like to try that is out of character for me: The make-up and heels required to compete in pageants is new for me and far outside my comfort zone. I am excited about the challenge of learning a new way to present myself to others
Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and tell us their names: My family has 3 horses (Dakota, Kaine, and Dega), 3 dogs (Belle, Jessie, and Romy) and lots of outdoor cats. We love our animals
