What is your favorite style of music? While I enjoy listening to today’s hits, I really enjoy “oldies” songs ranging from classic rock to Mo-town
What is your favorite movie genre and why? I like to watch sad movies because they tend to tug at your heart strings while also teaching valuable life lessons
What is your favorite gadget? My favorite gadget would have to be my Bullet blends because I love to make smoothies
What is your favorite blog? The Huffington Post is my favorite blog because it covers many political issues that I’m often discuss in my classes

What is your favorite food? My favorite food is a southern staple: shrimp an grits

Thing to do on a weekend: I enjoy spending my weekends in the Grove at Ole Miss whether it’s just walking through or catching up with family and friends. It’s not only a beautiful place to relax or study, but it’s an environment that brings people together
Way to spend a day off: On a day off, I love to grab my favorite seasonal coffee and do a little shopping. Whether it’s looking for clothes, shoes, or home accessories, the perfect weekend agenda is complete with spending some girl time with friends in our favorite stores

What is your hometown like? My hometown, Madison, MS, and my “home-away-from-home”, Oxford, MS, share many unique qualities. They are both filled with beautiful architecture, a strong art and music culture, rich history, and friendly people
What were you like when you were a child? I was a complete tomboy. I spent most of my childhood dressing up as cowboys, playing football, and hosting Batman-themed birthday parties
Who is the most influential person in your life? Growing up as a dancer, many teachers and instructors influenced my work ethic by always encouraging us to try our hardest, remain dedicated, and set personal goals. Through this group of mentors, I learned that I could accomplish my goals through hard work
What is the one thing about you that people you meet may not immediately realize? Some people may not realize that even though I’m a political science major, I’m not entirely interested in politics. Instead, I want to use my degree to pursue a career in law
Describe one defining moment in your own life, other than winning your local title: In 2011, I was crowned Miss Mississippi’s Outstanding Teen. This moment not only began an incredible year-long journey, but provided me with a truly humbling and grateful experience as I was able to represent the state of Mississippi at the national pageant
What is one important thing you have learned from being in the Miss America Program? The Miss America Organization breeds the leaders of tomorrow and helps young women achieve their dreams. I’ve learned that our successes are not something to shy away from, but that they are accomplishments of which we should be proud
If you are crowned Miss Mississippi, what do you want to accomplish during your Year of Service? As Miss Mississippi, I would work to expand both Children’s Miracle Network fundraising campaign and the First Book initiative. During my year, I would be an advocate for both of these programs because of the positive impact they have on both the children and the future of Mississippi
What is your secret wish or dream? My secret wish is to be Beyonce. It may sound silly to some, but no one can deny that she has impeccable style and ridiculous talent
I’m motivated by: I’m motivated by self-set goals. Whether it’s academically, in the gym, a service project, or just a simple everyday to-do list, I am self-motivated and strive to reach the goals that I set for myself
Is there a personal connection that made you pick your personal platform? Growing up in a literature-rich home, I was constantly surrounded by the benefits of early childhood reading. By working with First Book and literacy campaigns, I can help other children achieve early-childhood literacy and help them secure the future benefits of having a strong reading foundation
What do you think has been the most significant event in your lifetime? Throughout my childhood, I grew up attending various events at the University of Mississippi; but, when I finally experienced the university as a student, it was the most unbelievable feeling. My first day as a college student began a new chapter in my life that has blessed me with many opportunities and experiences that I could not have had anywhere else
The one thing I can’t live without: I cannot live without chocolate
My best friend would describe me as: My best friend would describe me as someone with two obsessions: shoes and being a clean freak
Something interesting about my family: One interesting fact about my family is that we are all artistic. From dancing and singing, to drawing and painting, my family and I are always creating something
Funniest or most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to me: Though I may endure a daily dose, tripping in public is always embarrassing. Whether it be on sidewalks, flat ground, or even evening gowns, I seem to be eternally tripping
One thing I’d like to try that is out of character for me: I hate anything scary so I’d like to try to a watch horror movie on a Friday, the 13th. I’m not sure if I’d finish the film, but it would definitely provide an out-of-character experience for me
Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and tell us their names: I have two cats that my family and I rescued named Wednesday and Bozeman. I also have a miniature Rat terrier named Abbey
