What is your hometown like? In my hometown we have a population of about 150 people, a church, a school and a gas station. Everyone knows each other, and we welcome visitors with open arms.

What were you like when you were a child? I was a handful, to say the least. I was very energetic and stayed in trouble and changed my name at least once a week.

Who is the most influential person in your life? Other than my family, I would have to say that my high school English teacher has had the biggest influence on my life. She constantly pushed my classmates and me to reach our greatest potential by telling us that we were more than our circumstances, encouraging us to think on our own, and finding ways to become better in all aspects of life.

What is the one thing about you that people you meet may not immediately realize? My main goal in life is to make a lasting, positive impact on everyone I meet.

Describe one defining moment in your own life, other than winning your local title: Starting college gave me a firmer grasp on life which, in turn, helped me find out just who I am.

What is one important thing you have learned from being in the Miss America Program? I have learned that, contrary to what most people believe, the prize is not the crown.  The prize is the journey that helps shape young women to grow in all aspects of life.

If you are crowned Miss Mississippi, what do you want to accomplish during your Year of Service? I want to make Mississippi a better place by further promoting my platform, Thumbs Up for Safety.Through my work to educate people on the dangers of texting and driving, Mississippi will be greatly affected by a cause that is relevant to a technologically-advanced world that we live in today. Not to mention, friends, family, and peoples’ lives can be saved. I also want to touch many lives through service to the Children’s Miracle Network.  My sister had a birth defect when she was born, and she is a direct recipient of the quality of service provided by the network of hospitals.

What is your secret wish or dream? It would be so cool to be a Disney princess at Disney World – specifically, Rapunzel.

I’m motivated by: God’s love for me.  He paid the ultimate price sacrifice for me and others so I want to share His love through service to others.

Is there a personal connection that made you pick your personal platform? I picked my platform because my school and community experienced first-hand the consequences of texting and driving through the loss of one of my schoolmates.

What do you think has been the most significant event in your lifetime? I think Hurricane Katrina was significant in that it brought our entire state and region together in a unified effort to heal, rebuild, and provide comfort and compassion to those affected.

The one thing I can’t live without: My friends

My best friend would describe me as: Caring and compassionate

Something interesting about my family: We are avid St. Louis Cardinals fans and attended game 6 of the 2011 World Series.

Funniest or most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to me: On a one-day cruise through the Greek islands, I was asked by one of the entertainers to come up to the front and dance with him. He taught me a traditional Greek dance that I unsuccessfully attempted to perform in front of the entire cruise.

One thing I’d like to try that is out of character for me: I am terrified of heights so bungee jumping would definitely be out of the norm for something for me to do.

Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and tell us their names: I have five cats- Charlie, Buddy,Pinky, Graydaddy, and Poindexter.
