What were you like when you were a child? As a child I was quite outgoing, but when I wasn’t caught entertaining anyone, I had my nose in a book or an educational workbook.
Who is the most influential person in your life? Jesus Christ. Following Christ is what has gotten me to where I am today.
What is the one thing about you that people you meet may not immediately realize? People would not recognize the hardships I’ve faced in my life because I keep a smile on my face and don’t display my difficulties because I know the Lord always has a plan and will lead me in the direction in which I should go.
Describe one defining moment in your own life, other than winning your local title: One defining moment for me was one that was only seen by me during one of my nightly devotions. Is there a personal connection that made you pick your personal platform? Yes, even though the loss of my previous house was not by a natural disaster, when I saw people losing their homes because of a tornado, it touched my heart and I felt the desire to help because there were people who helped my family in desperate time of need. I wanted to be that help for someone else.
What do you think has been the most significant event in your lifetime? My father’s incarceration has played an enormous role in my life and helping me develop into the young woman I am. Funniest or most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to me: When I was 10 my vocal coach gave me the opportunity to sing “Holly Jolly Christmas” in her Christmas concert. I had practiced for weeks and was so excited. I was on stage singing and after the first verse I went completely blank and forgot the lyrics. I was scarred for what seemed liked forever, but now I just look back and laugh.
