What is your major? Dance Performance and Choreography
What is your scholastic ambition? I recently obtained a BFA in Dance Performance and Choreography on May 2016. I hope to attend graduate school for Dance Performance and Choreography in NY, NY so I am able to teach dance in a collegiate setting.
List scholastic honors: Recipient of a $6,000 scholarship from the Partnership of a Healthy Mississippi; $700 scholarship from the University of Southern Mississippi; $5,000 scholarship from the Miss Mississippi Corporation, Dean List 2015, USM Dance Repatory Company 2013-2016, Student Dance Organization- Secretary.
Greatest non-academic accomplishment: Being accepted into the International Performing Arts institutefor the summer of 2014. This is a residencyfor musical theater located in Germany.I was also accepted into the Disney College program Spring 2016.
What is your favorite style of music? Depends on my mood. Summer days I enjoy country, I love holiday theme music, but I can always depend on 2000 hits to get me pumped for any occasion.
What is your favorite movie genre and why? Comedy. I love Madea and all of Tyler Perry’s movies.
What is your favorite gadget? My watch. It tells me the time, the day of the week, the date, and tracks my physical activity. I am always going from one thing to the next so staying on time is important to me.
What is your favorite blog? renew12onetwo.com This is a Christian blog written by a strong Christian woman name Jasmine Cochran. I had the pleasure of working at Christian summer camps with her.
What is your favorite place to visit? The Mississippi Gulf Coast. It just feels like home. There is so many things to do; the beach, local food, crafts, and baseball games.
What is your favorite food? Homemade Holiday chex mix. Thisis a traditional snack my family makes during the Fallholidays.
If you were on a deserted island, what book would you want with you? My devotional book written by Sarah Young called “Jesus Calling.”

Wardrobe Accessory: My Jesus ring. My mother passed down her vintage Jesus ring to me on the day of my college graduation. The ring is over 35 years old.
Thing to do on a weekend: I love to travel and take day trips, I try to find local restaurants and shops when visiting.
Way to spend a day off: When I have a day off from teaching dance at the studio, I enjoy going to a USM sport event. Southern Miss To The Top!
What is your hometown like? Meridian is known for the many festivals, great local restaurants, and historic attractions. I like to think of Meridian as a city where history comes to life.
What were you like when you were a child? I feel that I am the same today as I was as a child, just a little bit wiser. I was very outgoing, never met a stranger, and always stayed busy through community art events.
Who is the most influential person in your life? I had a teacher who was such an inspiration to me in the classroom as well as a strong role model in her faith. Mrs. Watson always taught me to never give up on my dreams and to always rely on God when you have struggles.
What is the one thing about you that people you meet may not immediately realize? I am very genuine and sincere. When you meet me, you can see that I am very outgoing and energetic, but I really enjoying getting to know people. Everyone who walks into your life has a purpose. So, having the opportunity to learn something new about someone is exciting.
Describe one defining moment in your own life, other than winning your local title: Going to college is a big step in one’s life. I will say attending the University of Southern Mississippi opened my eyes in a new perspective on life. Being at USM gave many opportunities for me that I would have never imagedmade possible.
What is one important thing you have learned from being in the Miss America Program? Dedication and Persistence. This is a lifestyle that takes a lot dedication and persistence to achieve a goal. You cannotlet anything hold you back nor let anything push you to give up.
If you are crowned Miss Mississippi, what do you want to accomplish during your Year of Service? I want to embody the four point of the Miss America crown: Style, Scholarship, Success, and Service. Being Miss Mississippi is about serving as a role model to young girls. Having these four qualities will help fulfill my dreams and goals. We should all pass it forward to help society come together as one. As Miss Mississippi, I hope to spread this message to others.
What is your secret wish or dream? I would love to be a backup dancer forCeline Dion.
I’m motivated by: The fear of failure. The feeling of failure motivates me to work harder and to never give up.
Is there a personal connection that made you pick your personal platform? I chose to partner with the MI-BEST program because I believe adults deserve a second chance to receive their education. I have three family members who had their second chance in receiving their high school equivalency diploma. This is an issue in our state and in order for our state to become more successful we must start at by promoting our education programs provided in our state.
What do you think has been the most significant event in your lifetime? I have been blessed to work with FCA- Fellowship of Christian Athletes- summer camps. I am able to work with middle school and high school cheerleaders in helping them strengthen their walk with Christ. These young girls and camps have inspired me to stay true to my morals and to always work towards success.
The one thing I can’t live without: As a dancer,I hate being cold, especially my feet. I cannot live without fluffy socks.
My best friend would describe me as: I am very optimistic. Life is too short to go through life with regrets and failure. I try to live every day to the fullest no matter what obstacles are thrown my way.
Something interesting about my family: We are loud, we are proud, and we are always there for one another. I have about 35 close family members who are always there no matter what the event maybe, I can always depend on my family to be there.
Funniest or most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to me: I am really bad remembering names with faces. I am the person who will walk up to someone, talk to him or her, and then realize they are not the person who I thought they were. This happens to me at least once a month.
One thing I’d like to try that is out of character for me: I would love to go backpacking in Montana. I don’t like bugs, but the adventure of rock climbing, exploring, and living off the land would be so much fun.
