What is your hometown like? It is like a slice of lemon meringue pie, sweet tea, and everything southern.
What were you like when you were a child? I was a very ambitious child always striving to do my best and help others. I have always loved God, music, and animals.
Who is the most influential person in your life? My first grade teacher, Judy Ainsworth, who encouraged me to always follow my dreams.
What is the one thing about you that people you meet may not immediately realize? I am a country girl that lives on a farm and I love to pull my hair up and go feed the cows.
Describe one defining moment in your own life, other than winning your local title: A truly defining moment for me was winning first place at the state competition for speech and debate. As a sixteen year old first year competitor this accomplishment proved to me that hard work and ambition can take you anywhere.
What is one important thing you have learned from being in the Miss America Program? I have learned how to truly be an admirable leader through community service; not only through my platform, but also for my state, and university.
If you are crowned Miss Mississippi, what do you want to accomplish during your Year of Service? I would be humbled to have the opportunity to speak at schools and to be a classy and empowering role model for our girls all over our great state of Mississippi.
What is your secret wish or dream? My dream is to be a country singer and songwriter.
I’m motivated by: My future career motivates me to work hard academically as well as emotionally and physically. I want to become the best version of myself so I can have a huge impact on the world.
Is there a personal connection that made you pick your personal platform? My platform is extremely close to my heart because I have experienced and witnessed firsthand how a natural disaster can rip your world apart in a matter of seconds. My university and surrounding community was devastated by a tornado. It made me realize how hard it is to experience disaster and that is why it is my mission to help victims.
What do you think has been the most significant event in your lifetime? The most significant and most wonderful thing that has happened to me is becoming a part of God’s family. I got saved when I was thirteen years old and I will never be the same. My salvation is why I live my life to honor Jesus Christ in everything I say and do.
The one thing I can’t live without: Coffee
My best friend would describe me as: Caring, funny, and spontaneous. She knows how committed I am to helping people in any way possible, and that I feel sad for every stray animal. I also have learned the best way to enjoy life is to make others laugh and to laugh at yourself sometime. Finally, I am always up for an adventure.
Something interesting about my family: We love history and never pass up a chance to visit a historical location.
Funniest or most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to me: During my American Idol audition I found out it was Harry Connick Jr.’s birthday so I thought it was a great idea to bring him a cupcake. As I handed it to him I dropped the cupcake face down on the floor. He was very sweet about it, but I could have died. From then on I was known in the studio as the cupcake girl.
One thing I’d like to try that is out of character for me: I have always wanted to be a stunt double in an action film.
Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and tell us their names: Living on a farm, I have many pets. My favorite pet is my jersey show cow, Lindy and my fainting goats Little Bit and Granny
