What makes you special and unique? What makes me special and unique is my height and long legs. Since I love to model, it gives me an advantage. It brings me attention and that’s something I love
What is the one thing about you that people you meet may not immediately realize? People I meet may not realize that I’m young. They look at my tallness and assume that I’m older. Often I get asked “When do you graduate high school”? Hopefully, when I am older it will be the other way around. Ha
Best advice you have ever received? The best advice I’ve ever received was from my mother. She told me “Success isn’t always a prestigious award or being famous. It can be you doing the best you can do.” That’s something that I’ll always remember because I’m hard on myself and I strive for nothing but the best. It helps to know that if things don’t work out I’m still successful because I tried
What can’t you live without? I can’t live without my phone and my family. Sorry I’m a teenager and I love communicating with friends. My family supports me in everything I do. I love them dearly and they love me. They keep me on my toes for success giving me helpful and much needed advice
What is your biggest guilty pleasure? Junk food is my biggest guilty pleasure. I love chocolate and ice cream! Even though it’s not good for you, my mom lets me have some as a reward
What is your favorite movie genre and why? The Classics are my favorite movie genre. I love Turner Classic Movies (TCM) and I discovered my favorite actress, Bette Davis while watching All About Eve
Where do you see yourself in ten years? Ten years from now I see myself modeling and acting. I plan to have several modeling jobs and to be filming movies. I hope to have graduated from The Juilliard School with a degree in performing arts
Most valuable lesson learned? I’ve learned to always be myself and not let anyone or anything change me because being me works
Most valued role model (other than your mother) and why? Bette Davis and Halle Berry are my most valued role models because they are both phenomenal actors
What motivates you? My family’s support motivates me. I know that they really care and want the best for everybody and I don’t want to let them down
Greatest non-academic accomplishment other than winning your local title? My greatest accomplishment was being able to see phenomenal Broadway shows and getting private acting lessons with Bob Luke in New York City. I was in awe of him; he trained Raven Symone! Doing those things helped me set a goal for myself in acting and now I know what is expected of me as a performer. Currently, I host 2 radio programs which is really giving me the practice and confidence I need to perform
Best compliment you have ever received? The best compliment I’ve ever received was from one of my best friends. He told me that I am very smart and that I am a leader. Hearing that from a guy was a pat on the back. It was good to hear that I am an example for other kids
Secret wish or dream? I used to want to be a tattoo artist. I love art and thought that it would be good to draw on people
What is the funniest or most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to you? The most embarrassing thing that ever happened to me was when I fell down the stairs at school. I was walking down the stairs talking to a friend and missed a step. I slid down like I was skiing and everyone laughed. I was so embarrassed! Luckily, my friend was behind me and I blamed it on her. She went along with it to make me feel better. That’s what friends are for. Ha
What is one thing you’d like to try that is out of character for you? I want to try hunting so I can shoot deer and squirrels. It seems fun to get out of my “Glitz and Spritz” world and get into my inner country.Who knows I might be a good shooter or make a good deer stew
What is your super power? My super power is HELPING. I have nearly 600 hours of volunteer service in three years
What is one important thing you have learned from being in the Miss Mississippi Program? I have learned to never be intimidated. Last year I competed with girls who were three and four years older and at first, I felt intimidated. I did my best, stayed focused and had Fun. I was so happy with the outcome
Describe yourself in one word. Ready
A fun Family Fact? We eat dinner at my Gramma’s everyday
Please write a short essay (2 or 3 paragraphs) describing yourself to the people viewing the website. Let people know who you really are. Keep in mind the questions you’ve already been asked and include other things that you would like people to know about you
I am a fun loving but serious girl. I always strive to do my best. My oldest sister is an introvert and a very deep thinker and my other sister is fun loving and a math wiz. I think I am a bit of both. I love to travel and hope one day to go to Europe, Africa, South America and other countries. I love other cultures and do a great British and Jamaican accent. I am very serious about acting as a career choice and I participate in every theatre production I can. Even if I am backstage helping or serving popcorn, I love it! On Fridays, I invite friends or local teens to the radio station where I am the Mississippi host for “Teen Talk”, a weekly internet radio program where teens throughout the country discuss issues on www.Joynetradio.com. Also listen for my radio program “Tell Me About Yourself” on WDSV 91.9 FM. My first guest was national pageant coach Kyle Haggerty. Recently, I featured a pageant for special needs participants, the Mississippi Angels Pageant. Even with radio it’s all about pageantry. Although I am a size 2 I love to eat. My favorite restaurant is Maggiano’s Little Italy. We dine family style. It’s great
Please write a short essay (2 or 3 paragraphs) explaining your passion for your platform and your stance on the subject. Be sure to name your platform and give a brief explanation of its purpose as well
My platform issue is Encouraging Youth Volunteerism. I have performed over 600 hours of volunteer service in the past three years but always notice that I am usually the youngest one helping. Kids and young adults must learn to be of service early. You are never too young to learn “to love others as you love yourself”. I believe the values and character building that volunteerism provides will make youth less selfish and entitled. Also, I want others to know that volunteering can be a lot of fun. I will promote my platform under the name YEAH! (Youth Encouraging and ActivelyHelping). YEAH! issues a “Give 2” challenge encouraging youth ages 8 to 18, or youth in elementary school to high school, to volunteer for 2 hours with the organization, group or person of their choice. Once they sign up and accept the challenge on my website they will be able to print a certificate and purchase a t-shirt with the YEAH! logo on it. After giving 2 hours it is my hope that youth will want to volunteer more. In order to market YEAH! I plan to use social media, TV and radio broadcasts, and travel to cities and towns in Mississippi, Tennessee and Louisiana area prior to the state pageant. After the state pageant, if selected Miss Mississippi’s Outstanding Teen, I will broaden my scope to include television in the state of Mississippi. I really believe in YEAH! and I plan to take the challenge nationwide encouraging youth to give back and join the YEAH! “Give 2” Movement
