What is the one thing about you that people you meet may not immediately realize? People I meet may not realize that I am directionally challenged. I could get lost in a shoe box. Thank goodness for Google maps.
Best advice you have ever received? The best piece of advice given to me was by a friend. She said, “You are only confined by the walls you build yourself.”
What can’t you live without? I cannot live without my journal and coloring books. These are what I use to relax and unwind.

Most valuable lesson learned? The most valuable lesson I have learned is to never text and drive. A very good friend of mine and her brother died because of texting and driving.
Most valued role model (other than your mother) and why? My Aunt Sandra is my most valued role model. Regardless of things she may be going through, she always has a smile on her face and knows exactly how to lift others up. Especially me!
What motivates you? Doing well really motivates me, especially if I have had past experiences that did not go so well.
Greatest non-academic accomplishment other than winning your local title? My greatest accomplishment is definitely my platform #Sparkle. I see and hear of more people performing acts of kindness every day.

Secret wish or dream? My secret wish is to fly to a few of my favorite countries just to have dessert.
What is the funniest or most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to you? When I was eight, I decided to make some Ramen noodles for myself. I put them in a bowl and put them in the microwave. I went to my room for a minute and all I could think about was how excited I was about eating something I had made for myself. , but when I came back there was black smoke pouring out of the microwave. You guessed it. I forgot to put water in the bowl. Our house had a horrible smell for over a week and my brothers still tease me about it.
What is one thing you’d like to try that is out of character for you?I would love to sing in front of a large audience even though I cannot carry a tune in a bucket.
What is your super power? My superpower is the ability to put a smile on the face of every person I meet.

Hey everyone! My name is Abigayle Vance and I am a freshman at Germantown High School. I have two older brothers who are in college and dog named Ellie who means the world to me. In my free time, I love to spend time with my friends, watch Grey’s Anatomy on Netflix, work-out, and take creative photographs with my new camera.
I am taking my first art class this year and I have discovered many new talents. I love to draw and paint and I am always looking for things around me that inspire me. I can’t wait to start ceramics soon.
I also so enjoy cheerleading. I have been involved in competitive cheerleading since I was 3 years old. My varsity cheer team won the state title this year, Go Mavericks!!!! I hope to continue cheerleading in college as I pursue a degree in pre-med on my journey to become a Dermatologist.
Please write a short essay (2 or 3 paragraphs) explaining your passion for your platform and your stance on the subject. Be sure to name your platform and give a brief explanation of its purpose as well.
I am super over-the-moon excited about my platform! It is called #SPARKLE and it involves acts of random kindness. (Sharing and Performing Acts of Random Kindness and Love Everywhere). I came up with the idea last July. I realized that there is so much hatred, division, and negativity in the world and I wanted to do something to make the world a better place. During a recent mission trip to Nicaragua, I learned how a simple act could change the life of a small child. A small toy, a toothbrush, or pair of shoes meant the world to them. I set up a Facebook page,www.facebook.com/abbyssparkleproject, to share and promote ideas for simple acts of kindness and the response was tremendous. I want to teach young children about the importance of being kind and I want to continue promoting kindness in my school, community, and state. A few weeks ago, my mom and I paid for a police officer and his partners dinner. I left one of my card with his paid receipt. He posted it on his Facebook page and commented, “This act has restored my faith in humanity”! How awesome is that?
