What college did you attend, or are currently attending? I am currently a senior at Clinton High School. In the Fall of 2015, I will be a freshman at the University of Mississippi
What is your major? I plan to major in Special Education
What is your scholastic ambition? I plan to obtain my degree in Special Education, and begin working in that field while I pursue my Masters of Arts in Education with a specialization in Special Education
List scholastic honors: I have been named to the Honor Roll in my school and named a VIP Student for leadership and academics. I have also been involved in the Student Council for all four years of high school
Greatest non-academic accomplishment: I have been honored to be a four-year member of the Attache’ Show Choir. Attache’ has been consistently recognized as being the best show choir in the nation. It has been a lot of hard work, but also verv rewarding
VVhat is your favorite style of music? I love all types of music, but my favorite is Countrv Music
VVhat is your favorite movie genre and why? My favorite movie genre is Romantic Comedies. These type movies generally show real life situations through laughter
VVhat is your favorite gadget? My favorite gadget is the microphone to my car stereo. I recently received a new car stereo as a gift and it came with a microphone that allows me to talk on the phone hands-free.
What is your favorite blog? My favorite blog at the moment is hellogiggles.com. This blog covers a broad range of topics concerning millennia! women. This blog was founded by Zooey Deschanel, whom I absolutely adore
What is your favorite place to visit? The beach is my favorite place to visit. My family goes to the beach every year, and we always enjoy relaxing and playing games as a family
What is your favorite food? Chicken fried rice (with extra pink sauce) is by far my favorite food
If you were on a deserted island, what book would you want with you? If on a deserted island, I would want to have the book The Princess Bride by William Goldman. The book is about a grandfather reading a book to his grandson, and it brings back wonderful memories of both of my grandfathers reading and telling me stories. It is also extremely entertaining, adventurous and humorous, the type of book that would lift my spirits if I were on a deserted island

What is your hometown like? Clinton. Mississippi is a beautiful. quaint, historical town. The town is made up of a diverse group of people who work hard and understand the importance of family and education.
What were you like when you were a child? I am told that as a child I was happy and funny. As the youngest of three sisters, I learned to be easy going and fairly well adjusted.
Who is the most influential person in your life? The person that has been most influential in my life has been my grandfather, Graham Smith. He dedicated his life to the service of others and to God. Even through fighting esophageal cancer, he has maintained his faith
What is the one thing about you that people you meet may not immediately realize? I come across as a verv easy going, laid-back person. Most people do not know that I am very competitive, which I get honestly from everyone in my family
Describe one defining moment in your own life, other than winning your local title: When I was in the 8th grade, I was given the opportunity to spend a period of the day volunteering with the Special Education classes in my school. During that year, I fell in love with those very special students, and that experience started me on my career path and my life’s work with special needs students
What is one important thing you have learned from being in the Miss America Program? Through the Miss America Program, I have learned the importance of physical fitness and proper diet. The information I have received and my renewed dedication to fitness should benefit me throughout my life
If you are crowned Miss Mississippi, what do you want to accomplish during your Year of Service?
As Miss Mississippi. I want to represent the wonderful people of our state in a variety of community service efforts. I would concentrate my year as Miss Mississippi in promoting the wonderful work of the Children’s Miracle Network and bringing attention to the abilities of young adults with special needs to hold employment and the advantages of businesses to employ these remarkable people
What is your secret wish or dream? My secret dream is to travel to Paris, France. As a young child I have been fascinated with Paris, its people, it architecture and its culture.
I’m motivated by: I am motivated by a need that I see. If I see that a person. a group or organization has a need, I work hard to see if I can meet that need
Is there a personal connection that made you pick your personal platform? I worked with a special needs girl named Ashley, when I was in the 8th grade, who touched me significantly. I realized when she graduates from school, at the age of 21, she would not have the opportunities that I have to go to college and work toward a career
What do you think has been the most significant event in your lifetime? The most significant event in my life time would have to be the events of September 11, 2001. The terrorist attacks on our countrv on that day have changed so much of the way we conduct ourselves and how we look at ourselves and others.
The one thing I can’t live without: I cannot imagine my life without my animals and the love they give. My family has always had a lot of animals, including dogs, cats. rabbits, goats, pigs and chickens.
My best friend would describe me as: I believe my friends would describe me as loyal, dependable, happy and enthusiastic. I have been blessed to have a wonderful group of friends
Something interesting about my family: My family has a small petting zoo. We have goats, pigs, chickens and roosters.
Funniest or most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to me: One of my most embarrassing moments happened on the night of my Senior Homecoming Dance. I wore a beautiful high-neck, two-piece dress that showed approximately 1-inch of my stomach. I was asked to leave the dance for not meeting dress code. My mother had to bring me something to put on under my dress so the 1-inch of my stomach would not show. I still love that dress. but as a rule-follower, I was verv embarrassed
One thing I’d like to try that is out of character for me: I would like to trv parasailing. I have seen people do that so often when on the beach, but I am generally not a physical risk-taker and am somewhat afraid of heights
Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and tell us their names: My family has many pets. We have 4 dogs- Teddy, Eli, Cooper and Cash, 3 cats- Cecily. Simba and Nala,
2 goats- Dolly and Porter, a pig- George and a number of unnamed chickens and roosters.
