What college did you attend, or are currently attending? Hinds Community College
What is your major? Nursing
What is your scholastic ambition? One of my lifelong ambitions is to become a pediatric nurse. I have always wanted to be involved with something where I can help others, and nursing does that. I plan to go to the Hinds Nursing Program and get my RN. I then want to get my BSN from UMMC.
List scholastic honors: National Honor Society, Red Cord Service Award. Norseman Award by WCHS teachers, Phi Theta Kappa, Who’s Who Among Students at Colleges and Universities.
Greatest non-academic accomplishment: I was selected as a Hinds CC football cheerleader for the past two years, and it has been one of the greatest things I have accomplished.
What is your favorite style of music? I love anything I can dance to.
What is your favorite movie genre and why? I like to watch comedies because I love to laugh and be goofy myself.
What is your favorite gadget? My favorite gadget is my self-curling iron. It makes curling my hair much easier.
What is your favorite blog? The store I work at, Blush & Bashful, has a blog on their website where they talk about fashion trends.
What is your favorite place to visit? My favorite place to visit is North Carolina. I have been there on many occasions with my church, or as a family vacation. I love exploring in the mountains and seeing waterfalls.
What is your favorite food? My favorite food is sushi.
If you were on a deserted island, what book would you want with you? I would want to bring any of the books from the Harry Potter series. These have always been my favorite books to read and my favorite movies to watch.
Do you twitter? Yes, but I do not use it very often.

Thing to do on a weekend: I try to spend my weekends with my friends, because during the week I am so busy with school.
Way to spend a day off: If I have a day off, I just like to relax. I might read a book, or go outside.
What is your hometown like? My hometown, Vicksburg, MS has such a great background. Not only do they host the Miss Mississippi Pageant, there is so much to do dealing with our history.
What were you like when you were a child? When I was a child, I started off to be very shy. Once I started to dance, I overcame my shyness and became comfortable with myself.
Who is the most influential person in your life? The most influential person in my life is my mom, because she has shown me how to be strong through tough situations. She has definitely shaped me to become the woman I am today.
What is the one thing about you that people you meet may not immediately realize? People who just meet me may not know how much of a love I have for others. I have such a huge heart for service, and I try to use that to the best of my ability
Describe one defining moment in your own life, other than winning your local title: A defining moment in my life was when I decided where I wanted to go to college. I had so many options, and I am glad I chose Hinds Community College. It has definitely been a great decision.
What is one important thing you have learned from being in the Miss America Program? The Miss America Program has taught me how to be confident with myself and to push myself to the best of my ability. It has made me strive to be a better woman. Volunteer, and role model for others.
If you are crowned Miss Mississippi, what do you want to accomplish during your Year of Service? If I were crowned, I would want to be a great role model for others, and also represent the State of Mississippi. I would want to promote my platform “Stay Active Seniors,” and show just how important exercise is to live a better life.
What is your secret wish or dream? A secret dream of mine would be to actually become Miss Mississippi. I have grown up watching the pageant, and it has always been a goal of mine.
I’m motivated by: I am motivated by other people who push me to do something they love. When someone strives for their goals, it makes me want to try harder as well to be the best I can be.
Is there a personal connection that made you pick your personal platform? Yes, I have such a close connection with senior citizens, especially my grandparents. I began enforcing how important it is to exercise with my grandmother when she was recovering from hip surgery. After she passed away, it has been a goal of mine to let others live a long healthy life just as she did.
What do you think has been the most significant event in your lifetime? The most significant event in my life would be the summer before my eleventh grade year. I was involved in so many service events such as a mission trip to Honduras and local volunteer groups. I definitely changed that year, and it has made me love serving others.
The one thing I can’t live without: I cannot live without my family. We do everything together, and it would be so hard to do anything without them.
My best friend would describe me as: My best friend would describe me as somebody you would love once you get to know me. I take a little time to warm up to others, but they would say that I am fun and outgoing.
Something interesting about my family: My family has been keeping up with the same traditions we always have. We have Sunday lunch every week, and we have holiday traditions for Christmas and Thanksgiving.
Funniest or most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to me: In seventh grade, I was on the competition gymnastics team. One meet we had, I had done greaton every event until I got to the uneven bars. I did my bar routine almost perfect, but when I went to dismount I missed the bar and slid across the mat in front of everybody.
One thing I’d like to try that is out of character for me: Skydiving is something I have always wanted to try, but it is out of character because I do not like heights. I have done smaller things such as zip lining, so maybe I am working myself up to it.
Do you have any pets? If so, what kind and tell us their names: Yes. I have three dogs and two cats. My dogs names are Lexi, a chocolate lab; Baxter, a Catahoula; and Nick, a Chihuahua/beagle mix. My cats’ names are Sylvester and Cooper. I found Cooper as a kitten and he is my favorite animal. I am definitely a cat lady.
